No Service – Friday at SDCC

Quickie Update:  I just asked the Joe Quesada panel if people check in regarding character continuity when people use characters from comic to comic (oh sayyyy.... Kingpin!  Showing up in one book, going to Japan, used in two other books between that one published later, and on and on).  I tried to phrase it well, but...

No dice.  They are to understaffed to keep track of that, just enjoy the stories was the bottom line.  I tried to compare it to Lucas Licensing, but since they don't have a ranch, that sort of continuity check is just out of their reach.  6 movies versus the 80-some books they publish, so many characters... just not possible, says Mr. Q.

  1. So I’m guessing the editors don’t get together and discuss their respective books over coffee and donuts?

I’d think there are people out there who would accept unpaid internships, and you could make it their job to run around their offices checking to make sure Rhino was getting his butt kicked in two different books simultaneously, or if it was happening, that it was in a way that could be readily explained (like the less severe beating came first, so he could still escape to get whomped later).

  2. They’re 22 pages each of mostly filler. You can read them all in an afternoon.

  3. Wow, Joe Q gives a BS answer there’s a shocker. The dude is not helping his image at all.
